There is white wine, red wine and then there is Pinot Noir
The first duty of wine is to be red, the second is to be Pinot Noir
There are many ways to the recognition of truth, and Pinot Noir is one of them

Moraine Winery is pleased to release a limited-edition Premier  Pinot Noir pack featuring our three premium wines: Pinot Noir 2019, Pinot Noir 2018, Reserve Pinot Noir 2018.

Pinot Noir ranks with some of the oldest grapes. Its black wine grape variety of the species Vitis vinifera that hails from France. It’s one of France’s oldest grapes, cultivated more than a century ago by the Cistercian monks in Burgundy. It’s loved for its red fruit, flower, and spice aromas that are accentuated by a long, smooth finish. Today, collectors prize Pinot Noir for its finesse and age worthiness. Due to its popularity and difficulty to grow, it’s one of the world’s most expensive wines. The name comes from the French words for “pine” and “black,” a reference to the pine-cone shape of its clusters on the vine and the color of the grapes. The best food pairings for Pinot Noir complement the wine’s pretty fruit flavors, bright acidity and elegant style. These qualities make Pinot Noir a perfect partner to lighter red meats like duck and lamb, or white meats like turkey, pork and chicken. Fuller-flavored fish like salmon go well, or using bolder tasting cooking methods on fish as well. Earthy vegetables and herbs like mushrooms and thyme match the wine’s savory flavors, especially when folded into risotto and pasta.

(4 bottles) Pinot Noir 2019

This pack is the pre release of Pinot Noir 2019 and its the ONLY possibility to acquire our Pinot Noir 2019. The grapes for the 2019 Pinot Noir were harvested by hand exclusively from the Sophia Estate Vineyard before being gently destemmed by Euroselect destemmer and left as whole berries. As addition to whole berries partial inclusion of whole grape bunches into fermentation provided extensive structure and fruitless expressing  our site specificity. Unmistakable complex aromas of Pinot Noir red fruits with a touch of distinctive Naramata Bench funk.  Gracefully complex on its feet with sweet fruit, bright, acidity, and light tannins.  A pleasant note of toasted oak in the finish plays well with the leading fruit.  Butterflied lamb, chargrilled steak, Venison and Salmon are perfect pairing for that style of the Pinot Noir.

(4 bottles) Pinot Noir 2018

Fruit was exclusively grown on our Naramata Bench Sophia Estate vineyard. A classis representation of clone 777 Pinot Moir that has been cultivated and cared for with “white gloves”. Hand harvesting and fermenting whole berry, with a cap being punched down by hand, has ensured gentle tannin extraction and maximum flavour. Heady aromas of violet, Rainier cherries, old-fashioned rose petals and just a touch of toast oak makes this a memorable and enjoyable wine to share with family and friends. Try pairing it with a creamy mushroom risotto or some marinated grilled pork; you won’t be disappointed. Gold Medal at BC Lieutenant Governors Wine Awards 2020. Silver Medal at All Canadian Wine Championships 2020.

(4 bottles) Reserve Pinot Noir 2018

The Reserve Pinot is grown at Moraine’s Sophia Estate Vineyard on the Naramata Bench. The final wine stems from a vineyard selection of hand-harvested French clone 777. The fermentation was whole berry using natural yeast to express the site as much as possible, and all punch downs were done gently by hand. The final step involved a gravity transfer of the fermented juice to age sur lees in small French oak /mid France forest/ barrels for ten months before going to bottle unfined and unfiltered. The nose of this 13 percent Pinot is
electric, sporting savoury black cherries and tamarillo, a tangy fruit with a varying mix of kiwifruit, tomato, guava, or passion fruit. Bright and lean, calling for food and sophisticated sippers. flavourful dishes are best here like duck paté, cedar plank salmon or moo shu pork.” Silver Medal at BC Lieutenant Governors Wine Awards 2020. Silver Medal at All Canadian Wine Championships 2020.
